On the first of December one comment by Wenger raised all of our hopes:

Wenger – “I didn’t feel we were in the need to buy anybody but we will be out on the market that is for sure now.” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-we-ll-be-active-in-transfer-window

Since then he has done nothing but back track:

Wenger – “My options are limited in January” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-my-options-are-limited-in-january

Wenger – “Stars are hard to find in January” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-stars-hard-to-find-in-january

Wenger – “We won’t break any transfer records” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-we-won-t-break-any-transfer-records

Wenger – “I won’t buy if I can’t find quality” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-on-transfers

Wenger – “Transfer window gives me a dilemma” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-transfer-window-gives-me-a-dilemma

It isn’t as if there are a lack of strikers available, we can all think of strikers that would improve the squad.  So far Wenger has denied interest in all five strikers that have been linked to the club:

Wenger – “I will not make a bid for Balotelli” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/balotelli-story

Wenger – “Chamakh is unavailable in January” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-chamakh-is-unavailable-in-january

Wenger – “Striker Dzeko too expensive for us” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-striker-dzeko-too-expensive-for-us

“Bellamy not on Wenger’s wish list” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/bellamy-not-on-wenger-s-transfer-wish-list

Wenger – “Hitman Huntelaar is not on our radar” http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/hitman-huntelaar-is-not-on-our-radar-

Whilst Wenger has never been one for signing household names, he seems to be ruling out everyone we are linked to.  I have a feeling that there will be many fans disappointed when the transfer window closes.   I am expecting no signings, that way I won’t be disappointed.
