Theo Walcott scored a stunning hat-trick as England cruised to a 4-1 victory against Croatia last night.

Theo was a surpriseinclusion in Fabio Capello’s starting line-up against Croatia, and proved he was worth his starting place

Theo’s got his first England goal after 26 minutes, finding the bottom corner after Danijel Pranjic’s clearance cannoned straight into Robert Kovac and fell at Theo’s feet. His pace and trickery gave Croatia no end of problems throughout the first half.

It got betterin the second half when Robert Kovac was sent off for an elbow on Joe Cole. Soon after Theo rounded off a slick passing move with a similar shot into the bottom corner to double England’s lead.

Wayne Rooney made it 3-0 four minutes later and, Mario Mandzukic grabbed a consolation for Croatia, Theo got his hat-trick eight minutes from the end, Theo sprinted onto Rooney’s through-ball and rolled his left-footed shot past Pletikosa to complete an historic hat-trick.

Theo is only the third Arsenal player to score a hat-trick for England. Ian Wright and Ted Drake are the other Arsenal players to hold this honor.

“I’m not going to get ahead of myself, I’ll take every game as it comes,” Said Theo.

“Obviously when I get home I’ll watch it over and over again, but tomorrow it will all be gone. I’m just looking forward to the Premiership now.”

Despite remaining modest, Theo admitted he was delighted to finnally see his hard work pay off in front of goal.

“It was a relief,” he added.

“I tend to do a lot of hard work and not get that goal I deserve. But the whole team were fantastic.”

Theo now hopes England can build on win against Croatia.

“Hopefully we can,” he said.

“We will take our positives, and negatives, out of these games. We’re not going to get ahead of ourselves and I’m sure if we do that we’ll be fine.

“We just have to put teams on the back foot, if we play like that at home I’m sure that will be brilliant.”

It was the first competitive hat-trick for an England player since Michael Owen bagged three against Germany in the 5-1 win in Munich in 2001. And it signalled Theo’s arrival as a true international star.

Lets hope Theo can produce similar performances for Arsenal this season.
