Arsenal’s newest signing Aaron Ramsey is a young player who has shown a huge amount of potential and caused a massive battle for his signature among the premier league elite.

Ramsey snubbed Newcastle and signed for Cardiff at the age of eight. He made his debut in the last home game of the 2006-07 Championship season, coming on in the final minute of the 1-0 defeat to Hull City. This made Ramsey the youngest player to ever play for Cardiff City, aged just 16 years and 124 days.

Ramsey signed his first professional contract in December 2007 having allready played a few games that season, he made his first professional start for Cardiff on 5 January in the FA Cup against non-league side Chasetown.

Ramsey made his name in the FA cup that year helping Cardiff get to the Fa cup final. On the way to Wembley Ramsey had impressive games against premier league teams such as Middlesbrough where Cardiff won 2-0.

Manchester utd were the first team to show interest in the welsh youngster but it was Arsenal who won the race for him. On 10 June 2008 it was confirmed that Ramsey had decided to join Arsenal for a fee of £5million. The move was completed on 13 June 2008 on a long-term contract.

Ramsey had met with both teams and it was his decision to join Arsenal and he had this to say.

“In the end I had to make the decision I felt was right for my future.”

With competition strong in the center of midfield at Arsenal, it is unsure what role Ramsey will play this year but im sure most of you agree it will be exciting to see what the player can bring to Arsenal.
