Gallas and Van Persie are latest players to be linked with a move away from the Emirates

Arsenal fans have seen Mathieu Flamini, Jens Lehmann, Alexander Hleb and Gilberto Silva leave already and now both William Gallas and Robin van Persie are targets for the big clubs around europe.

Gallas has been rumoured to be wanted by Paris St-Germain and Barcelona, both of whom are prepared to offer £6 million. Meanwhile Juventus are understood to be considering a £15 million bid for Van Persie, even though he struggled throughout last season with various injury’s and has yet proved he is completley over his injury nightmares.

Wenger may consider £6 million a good price for Gallas at his age but would be reluctant to lose Van Persie, even though the Dutchman has been troubled by injuries.

Wenger, though has insisted that Adybayor will stay at Arsenal, despite interest from AC Milan and Barcelona. Wenger said:

“Adebayor is under contract. We expect him to turn up on Monday [today] and practise with us.”

Samir Nasri and Aaron Ramsey are the only arrivals at Arsenal to date, Wenger may look to boost the average age of his squad with an experienced player. Potential targets include Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry and Werder Bremen’s Torsten Frings.

Wenger said:

“We lost players with experience, of course, but we can still bring in players with experience and don’t forget that last year, since the first of January, Van Persie has missed nearly six months, Rosicky has missed four or five months and Eduardo has missed four or five months. They will all be back.”

  1. It seems the press just aren’t happy with themselves unless they have an Arsenal player or two linked with a move away!!
We’ve had to put up with it non-stop since the end of the season!
They seem intent on causing as much trouble as possible for us long-sufferring Gooners.

Well screw them, from now on I am simply going to ignore ALL these headlines. Wenger has said he wants one or two more players, a midfielder and probably a central defender.

Thats it… He wants to buy, he definately doesn’t want to sell and I don’t see anyone except maybe Adebayor leaving. And if Wenger wants him to stay he’ll stay.

  2. wenger pls keip van persie and galas pls this is our best player

  3. we are now becoming a wonderful supermarket. everybody see when we sell but none when we buy

  4. wenger is failing to realise that injuries lead to the gunners mising the premier title last season and it will repeat if he continues to use inexperienced layers.Young boys can play but cannot win trophies.

  5. You forgot to include another arrival Francis Coquelin (Stade Lavallois)

  6. I, like most people here, am a big fan of AW but he can get on my tits at times. He has a mental block about CB’s – when in the Prem you need to be solid at the back, otherwise you get loser teams getting easy goals against you and you can’t hold a lead against the big teams. Sound familiar??? What other manager would keep a tosser like Gallas after what he did at B’ham last year??? Move him on and pay whatever it takes to get a real winner of a CB in, please.

I was watching AW on ATVO today and he is getting annoying with the mystical answers he gives to everything. Of course he can’t say who he is targetting, but the vague and illusive answers he is giving, followed by the smirk is starting to wear thin. He says there is a month left in the window but we need people in now, and not just one, at least three, so that we can get them settled in to our style of play asap. Maybe he has a master plan up his sleeve and I hope he does but sometimes I think he is just stubborn, like at xmas when he didn’t bring cover in.

I am beginning to fear that we will struggle for goals this year, certainly early in the season until we get the balance right, so it’s even more imperative we keep RVP and make sure we have at least three solid CD’s. With Kolo possibly out for the first few weeks that makes it even worse and now means Ponderous will be in and he always sucks early in the campaign….even more than he usually does. We could be struggling after a few games with ground to make up. I hope I am completely wrong and am waiting to see how the more serious friendlies go for more confidence, but I am worried. Is anyone else? Last year, the team had the motivation to show that they could survive TH14’s departure….this year you would wonder where the spirit and motivation is going to come from. there seems to be a lot of negativity in the air, mostly drummed by those tossers in the press but it’s there nonetheless.

Plus, unless we build a stronger central defence and get someone in a defensive midfield role, I think Cesc might get fucked off with wasting his talents on making a champions league place. He’s won a Euro now so he’ll want to win things at club level. What do you guys think?
