The 2008 – 2009 season will see the arrival of Carlos Vela to Arsenal, a player many Arsenal fans have been waiting to see in an Arsenal shirt for the last few years.
Vela was bought in November 2005 for a fee of £2.5 million, he was playing for Mexican side Guadalajara at the time but shot to fame in the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship where the player finished as the top scorer of the tournament with 5 goals and claimed the Adidas Golden boot.
Vela attracted offers from many of Europe’s top teams but decided to join Arsenal signing a five year deal but due to the English work permit restrictions for non-EU citizens the player could not play in England and was sent to Spain on loan.
He was loaned to Celta de Vigo in February 2006 and then joined UD Salamanca, in the Spanish second division, for the 2006-07 season. He finished this season scoring eight and creating many of their 53 goals.
At the end of the 2006-07 Vela was still not eligible for a British work permit so Arsenal agreed to loan the player to Osasuna where the player spent last season playing mainly on the left wing.
2008 Vela was granted a work permit that will allow him to play in England, Manager Arsene Wenger has already stated that Vela will feature in Arsenals first team, a move many Arsenal fans are glad to hear.
But the Manager has said that Vela will feature as a striker and not play on the left as he has done in his time in Spain.
“Vela will be involved with the first-team next season. He has played the whole season at Osasuna on the left wing and he had to work hard there. But for me it is not his position, he is a central striker, an Eduardo type. He is a great young player.”
So Vela is here and the wait is over he now has the number 12 shirt and I’m sure you all agree he looks like a very exciting player and could be our biggest signing this season.

I watched him in the U-17 world championship and he looked awsome, he’s much better now and i can’t wait to see what he can do in the premiership. My highlight so far was watching him make utter fools Real Madrid especially Ramos, he tied them all in knots haha, absoloute quality….
vela u welcome to the da greet club, seen u play i know what u capamble of doing
Carlos Vela is a great player and he is becoming a mature one at his only 19 years. Fortunately, Vela is right now our striker in the Mexican national team and in the first qualifying round of Concacaf he scored twice against Belize. I’m sure that his game at Arsenal will help him improve so much and Wenger will make him a fenomenal striker. Vamos Carlos, demuestra en Arsenal lo que vales!
One year. Give him one year to become a good forward. He hasn’t kicked a ball in England yet. He needs to adapt fully to the type of play in England and at Arsenal. But when he does. Watch out.
more absolute quality has a shot on him too cant wait roll on august
Ilove the boy,he is absolute quality.premiership watch out
Au revoir, Ade. Bien veinidos, Carlos. I am absolutely creaming my pants at the thought of Barazite, Bendtner, Vela, Walcott, RVP, Eduardo. My oh my the future looks bright, I reckon Wenger is gonna go for a modified 433 formation, with cesc [denilson], rosicky[diaby], and samir[randall] in the mid-field, and hopefully RVP[Barazite], Walcott[Vela], and Bendtner/[Vela], upfront [actually that's what I did in CM2008, without Nasri instead I had Denilson]. It’s gooner get ridiculous. Can you imagine RVP[Eduardo] cutting in off the right flank, and Walcott[Vela] like wise on the left flank. With Bendtner[Barazite] targetman. Alright wipe-off yourself off buddy you’ve made a mess.
DUDE!!! HI’S FUCKING HOT I WOULD MARRY THIS MAN WITHOUT ASKING AND I’M MEXICAN 2 SOO JAJA I LOVE U CARLOS U R DA LUV OF MY LIFE
